Sharman Years

Sharman and I met when I was still in the ashram (in Miami), and he was aspiring to
receive the Knowledge of Guru Maharaji.
I was then managing the health-food store belonging to the devotees,
but open to the public, where we also had a vegetarian restaurant.
Sharman would come in to eat, as he was good friends with the lady that ran the restaurant.
Shortly after our meeting, I moved out of the ashram, and our life began.
We were both working for a couple of years, saving money so we could buy a sailboat
and sail around the Caribbean eating fruit.
Just a month or so AFTER we spent all our money on the 17' sailboat,
we found out I was 4 1/2 months pregnant with Winn (Yeah, Winn!)
We were living on South Beach (Miami) in a tiny apartment when Winn was born (naturally, and at home).
We moved out into the anchorage onto our sailboat when he was 5 1/2 months old.
We moved shore-side again for Jam's birth (also natural, and at home).
Then Sharman and I went our separate ways, but usually staying
close-by and sharing in the upbringing of the boys.
I was living on my houseboat mostly during this time.
Then I was "out there" for a while, and the boys lived sometimes with Sharman,
and sometimes with their best friend's families.
So these pics range in years from when they were very young, and Winn & Jam were born,
to some of their older years in pictures with Sharman.
Sharman passed away (help me boys, was it in 2000?) from lymphatic cancer,
and will always be remembered with Great Love in our hearts.

This is before the boys were born, when Sharman and I sailed to his island off
the west coast of Florida in the 10,000 Islands area - White Horse Key.
We stayed there for 1 month, having brought with us only a case of grapefruits,
a couple cases of oranges, and some bananas.
This is where we saw the HUGE anaconda snake.

First, the before-Jam era...

Winn had his first birthday while visiting my Dad in MD

In front of the house I grew up in in MD,
at the time of Winn's first birthday.

Same day, with Sharman
Doesn't Winn have the cutest smile?

This is right after Winn was born - he was introduced to the ocean at age 5 or 10 days
(obviously, slightly out of chronological order,
but too bad :)

Jumping into the Jam's Birth era...

We were temporarily on land in a house in Coconut Grove,
near the anchorage.

Winn loved his little brother Jam...

At our dear friends Ellie and Stevie Lee's house
(they supplied all the health food stores in Miami with wheatgrass they grew here in their yard)
Their kids (Cedar & Ben at the time) and ours would play for hours.

Back to the Jam's birth era. Winn loved our gardens.

This must be Jam's first birthday (the xtra candle for growth!)

We worked the Farmer's Market every Saturday.
Sharman did massages, and I read tarot cards.
The boys ran around and played.

Farmer's Market again, the boys are a little older here.
(me too)

Typical Winn face,

Winn's birthday I guess..

made (for a fundraiser) out of one of Jam's drawings of us in the anchorage.
I wish I still had one of these tees.

His first is relaxing.
